“I have always loved baking and creating cakes and have progressed from official family baker to running my own business.”
As a consequence, friends, colleagues and family have commissioned me to bake cakes for special occasions including weddings, christenings anniversaries and of course, birthdays – subsequently leading to the name of my business.
The Cake Commission was established as a result of an overwhelming passion for creating, baking and sugarcraft. I have a diploma in Professional Bakery and Sugarcraft and came third in The Blandy Cup, a category in a national competition with Colleges from all over the UK for best fruit cake/decorated anniversary cake. I have subsequently been on many courses around the country and locally to ensure my skills are up to date with the latest designs. I have had numerous publications in Cake Craft and Decoration magazines.
Some customers are very specific in what they want, tailor-made to the occasion, others ask for my ideas and suggestions.
Each recipe and cake is baked and decorated with exceptional care and attention. They are made with the finest quality ingredients and come in a variety of flavours such as traditional vanilla sponge, delicious chocolate, luscious lemon, moist carrot cake and rich fruit cake – made three months in advance to ensure that it has time for the flavours to mature.
I can also bake gluten free, dairy and wheat free cakes. All care is taken using separate utensils, bowls and tins. The shape and sizes of cakes vary, as does the decoration, and ingredients used which obviously effect the cost of the overall cake.
I hold a food hygiene certificate and have been awarded a level 5, the highest score, from Liverpool City Council Environmental Health.
